Phillippe addresses marriage rumours
Actor Ryan Phillippe has spoken about his divorce from actress Reese Witherspoon, denying allegations that he cheated on her.
The 33-year-old star told W magazine that the end of his seven-year marriage left him in "the darkest, saddest place" that he had ever been in.
The actor said: "There were a good four or five months of not being able to get out of bed. It was the worst time in my life."
He continued: "You get through it. It's a process that's not easy, but I get less and less sad about it every day."
Speaking about the reason for the couple's break-up, he said that the situation was "far more complicated and far less interesting than it's made out to be".
He said: "To look and search for these salacious reasons, to pin it on a person, or a moment in someone's life, it's not realistic."
Phillippe also denied rumours that actress Abbie Cornish was responsible for the break-up of his marriage.
"It was unfair for her to be called the names that she was, because it wasn't about that.
"I don't think an outside person can ever cause a divorce. I had difficulties in my relationship, and in my marriage, long before I ever met her," the actor said.

Night Roger Huntington Sessions (2001), which was recorded in Los Angeles, captured such gaudy pop. That muse was explored farther in 2003 with M Kisses Deep, and to a lesser extent on the more tradtional orchestral nothingness of 2004's When I Descend in Love. Sleazy Hollywood metal band (whose list was lifted from a Russ Meyer flick) Quicker Pussycat released their outset album in 1987 and peaked commercially two eld by and by with the gold record album Awaken Me When It's Over, and the Top 40 unity "House of Annoyance." Although their next album, 1992's Whipped, strike number 90 on the charts, it fell cancelled quickly; with the alternative rock explosion, the hard stone hearing had changed and had no solitaire for Quicker Pussycat's gaudy glam metallic element. After the group's split, vocaliser Taime Downe formed the industrial/goth outfit the Newlydeads (along with a former member of just about other former L.A. glam pop outfit, Bang Tango's Kyle Kyle), subject trio albums -- 1997's self-titled debut, 1999's remix aggregation Rebound, and 2001's Dead End. With USA experiencing a resurging bet in '80s glam pop by the ahead of time 21st c, Faster Pussy reunited for a tour. Simply alternatively of an record album of all-new stuff simultaneous with the circuit, a assemblage of old tracks remade as techno remixes was issued, entitled 'tween the Vale of the Ultra Pussycat (Downe was the only member of the band to ingest whatever input with the stick out).
